LCSD #7 is in search of a Classroom Intervention Teacher at the Fremont (K-2) elementary school. The projected start date is August 20, 2024. FTE 1.0. $40,178 - $76,720. Open until filled.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A valid Oregon teaching certificate
- Prior job-related experience desirable but not required
- Willingness to obtain special education license preferred
- Effective instructional and behavioral skills
- Meet requirements of No Child Left Behind, highly qualified status.
- Maintains absolute confidential and ethical behavior as set forth in American School Counselor Association, Ethical Standards for a School Counselor Guidelines.

JOB GOAL: To assist students in learning and developing skills which contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Convenes and instructs assigned classes at designated locations and times.
- Adopts and uses teaching strategies designed to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates and maintains a classroom environment which encourages learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepares well developed lesson plans and provides written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
- Encourages students to develop and maintain appropriate standards of personal behavior.
- Guides the learner in achieving instructional outcomes by establishing and teaching to specific objectives.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
- Assesses the achievement of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Diagnoses the learning capabilities of students on a regular basis and seeks the assistance from available specialists as required.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions for the safety of students and the protection of equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.
- Assists in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct.
- Develops fair and reasonable rules of student behavior and establishes procedures to maintain order in the classroom.
- Makes reasonable provisions for student and parent conferences.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers and evaluates their job performance when requested.
- Strives to improve instructional skills and provisional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees, to include Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings, as required or requested.
- Participates in research, planning, implementation, and evaluation projects relevant to counseling, guidance, or other behavioral programs such as Sources of Strength, Second Step and PBIS.
- Shares responsibility for promoting effective discipline throughout the elementary buildings.
- Utilizes skill and knowledge in individual and group processes and development.
- Implements individual and group activities which promote healthy student growth in academics, personal, and social development.
- Designs or provides activities which give students experience in decision making processes, role playing, or other behavioral strategies.
- Observes student behavior in the classroom and provides suggestions for improving student/teacher interaction.
- Provides students, teachers, and parents with strategies for students to accept increased responsibility for their own actions.
- Assists staff members in developing successful classroom management techniques.
- Develops and plans behavior programs with objectives, goals, and activities based on relevant data and district counseling and guidance policies.
- Consults with teachers, administrators, parents, and other appropriate personnel relative to student’s needs; schedules conferences if necessary.
- Provides counseling and guidance information for classroom teachers.
- Assists with the individual placement and scheduling of students.
- Performs other job-related duties as requested by appropriate administrators.
- Attends and takes an active part in meetings with IEP, 504, behavioral and social agency personnel as needed for student support.
- Identifies and refers students for special services as needed.
- Observes students as requested for special education, 504, or behavioral plan processes.
- Writes and case manages elementary 504 plans.
- Writes and supports implementation of Functional Behavior Plans at the elementary level.
